Construction Sites

Non-alarmed constructions sites are shopping malls for burglars.
During various stages of a build offenders will target tools, materials, whiteware, cabling, heat pumps, air conditioning and so on including the kitchen sink, with little risk to themselves.
Tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of property may be stolen from a site.

Even when security patrols are undertaken in an attempt to prevent this it is not unknown for the offenders to strike after a patrol has left the property and even to return to the same property repeatedly particularly during weekends and holiday periods.

While large builds can justify the expense of monitored camera stands and even having security officers on site after hours, most builds cannot.

Construction operators also face the risk of prosecution by Worksafe should a person including a trespasser, suffer a preventable injury on their site.
Temporary alarms may help reduce this liability by scaring off trespassers and demonstrating that reasonable steps (responding a patrol) were taken to mitigate the risk.

Temporary alarms may also be used on scaffolding to prevent burglars gaining access to buildings when work being done creates a path into the building that bypasses the existing alarm.

Empty buildings and houses

Whether it is evicted tenants, kids, burglars, drug addicts, homeless people the results tend to be the same. Once one local miscreant realises a property is empty and tells some people, they tell some people and in a very short period all the local criminals are aware the property is empty, and it is burgled repeatedly and then trashed.

The lack of an alarm also grants burglars significant time to undertake the types of burglaries like removing the hot water cylinder and wiring they would not attempt in an alarmed property.
